senior year of college, when HIGH FIDELITY came out, one of my friends, brendan, told me that i had to go see the movie: "it's all about music fandom and top 5 lists. you'd love it. i thought of you."

i thought that there was no way, and i wasn't really the type of person. but you know, i love finding topics for top 5 lists. like: top 5 animals. top 5 cities to live in. top 5 cities to visit. top 5 bands. top 5 songs played on itunes. top 5 bands by hard drive volume on your hard drive. someone once said, "top 5 laws?" to me. b/c i'm a lawyer. top 5 judges! top 5 public policies (what i said back to her, b/c she was a public policy person). top 5 events to win the gold medal in the olympics.

so...question of the day:

if you could be a pro athlete in any sport in any league in the world--what would it be?

also, i went to my friend's b-day party at a karaoke place in koreatown. i was in the middle of of singing "straight up" by paula abdul--not my choice, but no one would sing it when it came on--when one of her friend's said to her, "this guy is pretty emo, huh?" then b-day girl screamed it across the room to me. it was pretty funny.

today at venice.

water was colder than two weeks ago.

thick marine layer + no wind + beautiful green water = quote of the day:

"it's so clean, i can't even tell what's going on."

i still surf like a kook. but i did catch one wave that made my day, and i don't think you can ask for much more than that.

when i go surfing, i generally get a song stuck in my head. it just plays over and over. it's never what i was just listening to in the car either. today it was this:



i can't even remember the last time i heard it in real life.
