halloween is so in full effect. i was talking to a friend yesterday. we were like, "it's gotten to the point where two weeks before halloween girls are using any excuse possible to dress in a slutty 'costume.'" i can only guess that it's even more prevalent in LA.

after going out last night, i'd have to say, it's so true. and i'm guessing tonight will be no different. my outfit last night? biz caj. b/c i was at the office until 8:30. but hey, still made it to the dance floor. and dancing to top 40 hip hop for the first time in ages--and understanding why all these "drop it" songs are so popular. songs directing girls to put their butts in your crotch. insane. how did i miss this? am i an old fart? probably.

money!

i've been in hardcore money saving mode and i got my amex bill today and i'm very proud of myself.

i was talking about money with a friend recently and here's how it went:

jk: shit. i'm always paranoid about what i bought for the month. don't you dread the credit card bill?
nk: no.
jk: why not?
nk: i don't really use credit cards.
jk: what do you do?
nk: i like to play a little game with myself where i take a set amount of cash each week and see if i can live off it.

i think that's wonderful. less stressful, but NO CASH BACK REWARDS! anyways. no trips this month. no plane tickets. no $100 celebrity chef meals. happy as ever.

i have a friend that recently quit his stressful, high pressure, well-paying job in phoenix and moved to chico for a less stressful, kick-back life in a small town in the middle of a forested paradise. less money, more happiness (fact) and i bet he isn't tempted by $100 sushi dinners either! the temptations of a yuppie, i know. what the fuck have i become?

seminal moment: 1997. i was only wearing thrift store pants or pants with 28" cuffs at the bottom (raver pants). i couldn't imagine not wearing giant pants. my sister said that i had to stop wearing jokey pants. my parents called them "street sweepers."

but they made the ironic statement of using my mom's monet umbrella so much more powerful! now, my pocket umbrella is broken, and it's the first rain in LA for the season. i go to work wearing biz casual. and to and from the train, i'm rocking this:

ilo and pud got married in august up in wine country.

inspired by the cape cod wedding of his chaitness and t-rock and photos of it on this blog, ilo planned it as an outdoor event encouraging garden wear and hats.
