a new phrase i've come across recently and want to turn you guys on to:

so i was paging through a book of old latin poetry, when i read something that really resonated. here it goes--CARPE DIEM.

translated, it means, "seize the day" and i think that's so amazing.

admittedly, i came across this earlier. about a few months ago, and have been trying to incorporate it into my life. results speak for themselves: I'M AWESOME.

you heard it here first, unless, of course, you have read the original poem by horace:

Don't ask (it's forbidden to know) what final fate the gods have
what end the gods will give me or you, Don't play with Babylonian
fortune-telling either. It is better to endure whatever will be.
Whether Jupiter has allotted to you many more winters or this final one
which even now wears out the Tyrrhenian sea on the rocks placed opposite
— be smart, drink your wine. Scale back your long hopes
to a short period. While we speak, envious time will have {already} fled
Seize the day and place no trust in tomorrow.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

one simple way i've incorporated this into my life:

after surfing for 3 hours, getting stoned, eating shitloads of bbq, and really needing a nap before going to a party later that night, i chose to "carpe diem" and drink a sparks and watch OBSERVE AND REPORT at the local theater.

go forth my friends. it's all out there for the taking. it wants you. carpe diem.

ok - i am so sorry, but i will have to say as your sister you have seen dead poets - the robin william movie where he teaches a bunch of young boys? we did have cable when we were growing up in ohio. he screams carpe diem to them all day long...
anyway, i am too uncool to understand whether this post is a joke or not. but i love you anyway.
